Your record stays
on your phone.

In the app, Emberpause stores everything you enter, your check-ins, notes, signature, and settings, on your device. We do not run accounts, we do not collect your health data, and we cannot see it. This website works differently, and the last two sections say how.

The companion

Your record lives on your phone. That is where your nights, your notes and your letters are kept, and we never receive a copy of them to store.

When you talk to Flick, your message and the part of your record needed to answer it are sent over an encrypted connection to our own server, which passes it to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate the reply. Our server keeps none of it. Anthropic processes it under their API terms, which do not permit training on it, and their retention policy applies to that step. We keep a count of how often you talk to Flick, tied to your anonymous subscription ID, so the service stays fair for everyone. We keep no messages. There is no account, so nothing is tied to your name.

Location

If you allow approximate location, it is used on your device to calculate sunrise and sunset for the app's appearance. It is never transmitted.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple. Our payment partner RevenueCat receives purchase records and an anonymous device identifier so your subscription works and can be restored. This is never linked to your identity and never sold.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your device.

Your control

Delete the app and your data goes with it. You can also remove your data in the app's settings.

This website

The quiz and the blog run on our own server. Your quiz answers stay in your browser, and the only things we keep are totals: how many women finished, and how far people get before they stop. There is nothing in those numbers that points back to you.

If you give us your email at the checkout, it goes to our payment partner so your subscription can be found again later. We do not add you to a mailing list.

Heatmaps and recordings on this website

We use Microsoft Clarity here to see which pages confuse people and where they give up. It records taps, scrolling and mouse movement, and it sets a cookie so a visit across a few pages reads as one visit instead of several.

It cannot see what you type. Microsoft masks every input box and every dropdown, in all modes, and that cannot be turned off. We also mask the places where your own words are printed back to you, so the answer you wrote is never uploaded.

The first walk through the app

The app's setup walk is long, and until now we could not see where people gave up on it. Microsoft Clarity records that walk, and only that walk. It stops the moment you finish it, and on every later opening it never starts, so nothing you do inside the app is recorded.

Your name, the box where you say why you are here, and your first message to Flick are all masked before anything is sent, and so is your answer where the paywall shows it back to you. We also count which screen you reached and how many seconds you spent. That count carries no name and no device identifier.

None of this touches your record. Your check-ins, notes and letters are never recorded, because by the time you have any, this has already stopped.
