The plain-words terms.
Last updated 31 August 2026. Emberpause is operated by Chase William Howard Empson, a sole trader registered in New Zealand (NZBN 9429051371807), trading as Emberpause. Using the Emberpause website, quiz, or app means you agree to these terms.
What Emberpause is
Emberpause helps you track perimenopause and menopause symptoms and understand your own pattern. It provides educational information and personal tracking.
It is not a medical device and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nothing in the app, the quiz, or the blog replaces a qualified health professional. If something worries you, take it to a doctor.
Subscriptions and billing
Parts of Emberpause are paid. Prices are shown before you pay, and you are charged when you subscribe, then automatically at each renewal until you cancel.
Subscriptions bought through the App Store are billed and managed by Apple under their terms, and you cancel them in your App Store subscription settings. Subscriptions bought on our website are billed by our payment provider, Stripe, and you can cancel any time before renewal so the next charge does not happen. Cancelling stops future charges and your access runs to the end of the period you paid for.
Refunds
For App Store purchases, refunds are handled by Apple through their refund process. For website purchases, if something has gone wrong with a charge, email us and we will sort it out fairly. Consumer guarantees under New Zealand law are not affected by these terms.
Your data
How we handle your information is covered by our privacy policy. The short version: your symptom data is yours, and we are not in the business of selling it.
Fair use
Do not misuse the service: no breaking in, no scraping the content to republish as your own, no using it to harm others. We can suspend access that abuses the service.
Our responsibility, honestly stated
We work hard to keep Emberpause accurate and available, but we provide it as it is, and we cannot promise it is error free or always online. To the extent New Zealand law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights that the law says cannot be limited.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will update this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use Emberpause after a change means you accept it.
